Around Mosquée Tamraght, upper Tamraght, Tamraght · free · by Souk Tamraght
About
Every Tuesday, upper Tamraght fills with stalls around the main mosque. It is a working village market, not a tourist show: locals do their weekly shop here, and it is the best place to stock up if you are cooking for yourself.
What you'll find
- Fruit, vegetables and herbs, sold by weight
- Nuts, spices, dried fruit and several kinds of olives
- Eggs (about 1 MAD each), fresh bread, honey, amlou and argan oil
- Second-hand clothes (usually 10–30 MAD), new basics and household goods
- Amazigh jewellery, vintage finds, rugs and pottery
- Fresh orange or sugarcane juice and coffee from pop-up stands
Good to know
- Stalls are up from around 8am. Late morning to midday has the best choice; some stay until the afternoon or sunset.
- Cash only. Bring small notes and coins, and your own bags.
- Dress modestly and ask before photographing people.
- Getting there: take a shared taxi or bus 32 to the bottom of Tamraght, then walk about 10 minutes uphill towards the mosque. Parking up top is limited, so walking is easiest.
